The Botanical Centre

The Exotic Garden’s Botanical Centre began its development in the early 1960s. This facility, run by a team of seven specialised gardeners, includes a group of greenhouses and shelters that serve two purposes:

• propagation of part of the plants to be planted in the Garden or exhibited during the Floralies event,

• conservation of a collection of cactus and other succulent plant reference species for the protection of these rare plants that risk extinction in nature.

The Botanical Centre of the Exotic Garden of Monaco holds a great wealth of plant heritage enriched with continual new additions backed up by its true expertise in cultivating and propagating succulent plants.

Each year, the Index Seminum seed list is published and sent to nearly 500 botanical gardens all over the world. This action sends several thousand seed packets to more than fifty countries each year.

The Botanical Centre is not open to the public, but is accessible upon request to botanical establishments, schools and associations and to plant lovers.
